Music can serve as a link to synthesize all areas of learning. Through music, we not only reinforce othe subjects; we also become better musicians and increase our understanding of many concepts. Children in our music program work on specific musical skills, including:
Practicing these skills helps young people to hone their natural abilities and prepare for perforning in ensembles in later grades. This year, Kindergarten and Preschool students performed Christmas concerts for parents and friends. They also performed during Mustafa's residence and will be singing at graduation ceremonies in May. "Miss" Ginger plans to work with "Miss" Beth Ann, our art teacher have been working together to create some collaborative units. The lessons link art and music in fun and creative ways. This will reinforce the lessons of each class, making the material easier to retain. Anderson and "Miss" Ginger were pleased to have Mustafa with us as an Artist-in-Residence April 3-7. Mustafa teaches an appreciation of African heritage to all ages. At Anderson, he taught the children the language, dance, and instruments of Africa. The kids love the opportunity to play the various instruments and to express their feelings through music. More Pictures from Mustafa's visit Email "Miss" Ginger |
